Govt has arranged 10 trains they are available on various dates in the January month, you can find the complete schedule from the below. If you want to travel to or from Chennai you can use this schedule for travelling.

Pongal special buses

For the welfare of public there are about 11,983 buses are to be operated from January 11 for the pongal festival. On January 13 – Bohi , January 14 – Pongal, January 15 – Mattu pongal, January 16 – Kanum pongal will be celebrated so almost everyone who work in Chennai or who stay in Chennai for jobs will travel to their native place for celebrating the festival.

Public can use these buses for travelling without any much rushes, this details are issued to the public by tamilnadu transport minister M.R. Vijay Bhaskar.

5158 special Buses from Chennai

To travel From Chennai to other places of the state on January 11, 12 and 13 about 11,983 buses will be operated, in which along with the regular 2275 buses 796, 1980,2382 counts of buses will be operated on january 11, 12 and 13 respectively. On these 3 days 6825 regular buses and 5158 regular buses will be operated.

3770 Special Buses to Chennai

After the pongal celebration peoples will move to Chennai so to travel from native place to Chennai 3770 special buses are arranged with regular buses 2275 on January 15, 16 and 17 dates.

 

Buses starting places

  • Buses which travels from Chennai to Andhra Pradesh are started from Anna nagar (West) Bus stand.
  • Buses which travels through East coast Road (ECR) will be operated from saithapettai Bust stand.
  • Buses which travels upto Kumbakonam and thanjavore will start from Tambaram sanatorium Arignar anna Bus stand.
  • All Buses which travel through Vellore will be operated from Poovirundhavalli Bus stand.

After Booking, they can go to the appropriate location which are mentioned above for travelling.

Buses starts from Koyambedu Bus stand

Buses which operates from Koyambedu Bus stand to other places like Mayiladudurai, nagapattinam, velankanni, trichy, Madurai, tirunelveli, sengottai, thoothukudi, trichendur, nagarcovil, kanyakumari, trivandram, vilupuram, panrooti, neyveli, kallakurichi, tiruvannamalai, kanchipuram, salem, Coimbatore, ernakulam, Bangalore will start from koyambedu bus stand.

Changes in usual routes

Buses which start travel after all the seats are filled will not go tambaram, perungalathur and travel through Madhuravayal, Poovirundhavalli, nsarathpettai, vandalur through outer ring road.

So Who booked to travel in such a way to start from tambaram and perunkalathur can go for Oorappakkam (Kilambakkam) temporary Bus stand at the Booked travel time for starting the travel.

How to Book Special Buses

All those who want to travel over 300 km can register through TNSTC official website which is called tnstc.in . To Book directly by person there are 29 special counters are opened which represented as follows.

Chennai Koymabedu Bus stand – 26 special counters

Tambaram Sanatorium – 2 special counters

Poovirundavalli – 1 special counter

For who travel through Car and other vehicles may travel through thirukalukundram – sengalpattu or sriperumbudur – sengalpattu routes instead of Tambaram , Perunkalathur to avoid rushes.
