In the Tamilnadu Budget for the Financial Year 2015-16 Rs. 20.936 Crores was allocated for the school education department and Rs. 3,696 Crores was allocated for the Higher Education.
The Chief Minister and the Financial Minister Panneer Selvam had filed the Tamilnadu budget for this financial year on 25th of March.

Amount allocated for Higher education department – Rs. 3696. 82 Crores
Amount Allocated to develop the Infrastructure of the Schools- Rs. 450.96 Crores
Amount Allocated to give free Text Books and Note books to the Students, 4 Set of School Dress, Bag, Sandals, Geometry Box, Atlas Map, Crayons, Color Pencil, and Woolen Swatter – Rs.1037.85 Crores.
Amount Allocated to give Free Bicycles to 6.62 lakh Students – Rs.219.50 Crores
Amount Allocated for Lunch Program- Rs. 1470. 53 Crores
The Exemption of the Tuition Fees for the First Graduate- 569.65 Crores
The Fund Allocated for the Annamalai University- 110.57 Crores
Amount Allocated for the Sports and Youth Development – 149.70 Crores
Girl Child Protection Scheme- 140.12 Crores
The Gas Connection Will be given to the 12,609 Anganvadi Centers
Free Laptop to the Students – 1,100 Crores
Scholarship for the Pre Matric and the Post Matric – Rs. 56.37 and Rs.674. 98 Crores
The Food Expense for the Schedule Caste Students Hostel – Rs.102.79 Crores
Develop the Schools and the Hostel of the Schedule caste Students – Rs.162. 91 Crores
For the Benefit of the Handicapped – Rs.364.62 Crores
Skilled Training will be given to 2 Lakh Youngsters and Rs. 150 crores has been allocated for that.
